The Ambler Design/Build Institute engages architecture students at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art + Architecture with the natural and human communities of which they are a part through making at the architectural scale.

Through community-engaged projects, candidates for a master’s degree in architecture use both handmaking and digital fabrication techniques at Temple Ambler Campus to imagine positive futures for their school, their city and their world.

Klein GO

Support Our Students for their Klein GO Journey!

This fall, a group of Klein College students will take their classroom experience abroad through the Klein GO Sports Media in London program, a weeklong immersion into the heart of British sporting culture.

Students will meet with industry pros, attend live events and explore how sports organizations across the UK and U.S. engage their fans on a global stage. For many, this will be a first-time international experience, one that could open doors to careers in international media, journalism, marketing and beyond.

Goal: $4,000

The Sport Industry Research Experience

The Sport Industry Research Experience provides students with the opportunity to participate in case competitions and present research to industry professionals and peers. In 2024, STHM’s undergraduate and graduate case competition teams were named

• ASMA Graduate Research Award Winner, and
• College Sport Research Institute (CSRI) Undergraduate Champions.

Hearts in Motion

Speech Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy Student Rehabilitation Therapy Mission Trip

Supporting Hearts in Motion provides vital medical services in Guatemala.

The Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Occupational Therapy (OT) Graduate Programs at the College of Public Health are embarking on a service-learning trip in partnership with Hearts in Motion, an organization dedicated to providing health-related services to communities in Central America, and we need your help to send them on this educational experience. This August, we aim to send five or six SLP students and eight OT students to Guatemala for one week to provide critical rehabilitation therapy services to underserved families in rural areas.

Why This Matters

Students will work alongside other healthcare professionals and students to treat children with cerebral palsy and developmental disorders, as well as adults with neurological impairments. This hands-on experience will not only make an immediate impact on individuals and families but will enhance students’ clinical training with the skills to provide essential rehabilitation services to individuals who might not otherwise receive care.

Our Fundraising Goal: $6,000

We are seeking to raise $6,000, which will cover one of the major expenses for 14 students:

• Airfare: $800 per student
• Hearts in Motion Fee: $1,150 per student (includes local transportation, security, meals and lodging)

While some students can cover their costs, others need partial or full financial assistance. The Future of Letterpress and Book Arts at Tyler

We are fundraising for the Printmaking Gift Center Fund to support the purchase of a letterpress from a former University of the Arts faculty member. This historic press has been meticulously maintained, and its owner is generously offering it to Tyler to continue its educational legacy in Philadelphia.

With the support of our faculty, staff and students, we are seizing this opportunity to expand the current Printmaking Department’s studio technology. With an increased number of students in our Printmaking Department, along with faculty research into developments within the discipline, we are eager to add this piece of equipment to our Letterpress and Book Arts studio technology.

Expand Current Curriculum
This press will allow us to scale up letterpress and artist book courses, directly impacting three major courses, one non-major course taught twice per semester, and supporting coursework in two more major classes. Over 100 students will benefit each semester.

• It will also support Core BFA and cross-studio courses, as well as future Design & Illustration Type curricula and special topics classes.

Schoolwide Benefits
The press will enable student production of memorabilia, posters and more, and offer students opportunities to participate in in-house marketing and promotional work on behalf of Tyler.

Theater for Young Audiences

The mission of TU Theater for Young Audiences (TUTYA) is to support our North Philadelphia community neighbors by utilizing the emerging skills of our theater students as “citizen artists,” to bring theater-based social, emotional and literacy-focused workshops and shows to area schools. Our aim is to use theater as a tool to uplift and build self-esteem and positive interpersonal relationship skills in young people, while working to fill the literacy gap. 

Goal: $500

The funds raised will be used to purchase building materials for prop boxes and portable risers, which will be constructed by Temple’s stage crew students. These items are essential to enhancing the performances and making them more engaging for the children we serve.
