2025 TUAA Elections

The Temple University Alumni Association (TUAA) encourages active alumni participation in support of Temple’s mission to serve our diverse educational community. Our 52-member Parliament, the governing body of the TUAA, consists of appointed and elected individuals and represents an alumni body of over 378,000 worldwide, acting as a voice for all Owls everywhere.

As a volunteer leadership group, Parliament partners with the university to foster closer relationships between alumni and the university and encourage advocacy and philanthropic support for our alma mater. 

The TUAA is committed to representing and supporting the diversity of its membership. The policies of the TUAA and its Nominating Committee foster and encourage the principles of diversity, inclusion and nondiscrimination.

Apply for a Director at-Large Position for 2025

In this nomination year, the TUAA Parliament seeks a diverse applicant pool for directors at-large for the two-year term July 2025–June 2027. Any Temple University alum may apply for a director at-large position. 

Ten directors at-large are elected by Parliament to represent a diverse variety of alumni interests and serve on the TUAA Executive Committee. They work with Advancement Engagement in developing programs, services, communications and networking opportunities that advance the priorities of the TUAA and Advancement Engagement, acting as liaisons to members of the TUAA. 

Interested individuals should nominate themselves for the new two-year term by Monday, February 17, 2025. The TUAA Nominating Committee will review all director at-large applications and present a final slate of no more than 20 candidates to the Parliament for a late spring 2025 vote.

Requirements and Responsibilities

Professional and Personal Requirements
  • An interest in making the TUAA and Temple University the best that they can be and promoting the TUAA and Temple University in a positive manner.
     
  • Honesty, sensitivity to and tolerance of differing views; community-building skills, personal integrity and sense of values; and concern for the TUAA and Temple University.
     
  • Ability to listen, analyze and work well with individuals and groups.
     
  • Willingness to prepare for and attend board and committee meetings, including reading related materials in advance; asking questions; and following through on given assignments.
     
  • Interest and willingness to cultivate and solicit support and recruit a diverse array of board members and volunteers.
     
  • Prior participation and volunteerism at Temple University events and with alumni constituent organizations is preferred, but not required.
Director at-Large Responsibilities
  • Attend two Parliament meetings and four Executive Committee meetings each academic year.
     
  • Attend signature TUAA and Temple events.
     
  • Personally advocate for Temple University among alumni peers via social and professional networks and the community at large.
     
  • Chair or serve on a TUAA committee or task force and take on special assignments as requested.
     
  • Make an annual financial contribution of $100 or more to the Temple University fund of one’s choosing.
     
  • Stay informed of the TUAA’s mission, policies and programs, and frequent communications.
     
  • Approve the annual budget of the TUAA prepared by the Budget and Finance Committee.
     
  • Provide feedback to the Executive Committee and Advancement Engagement to help provide quality and innovative programming and events appealing to a diverse alumni body.
     
  • Suggest nominees who can make significant contributions to the TUAA.
     
  • Keep up to date on developments at the university.
     
  • Adhere to the TUAA bylaws, conflict-of-interest, confidentiality and other current policies of the TUAA.
